Delaware school-to-work program achieves high job placement rate for graduates with disabilities

New Castle, DE — May 29, 2026 — Opportunity Center, Inc. (OCI), a Delaware–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit affiliated with ServiceSource and dedicated to disability employment and support services, will celebrate eight young adults with disabilities as they graduate from the FrameWORK for Success program on June 2. A 4-year school-to-work transition initiative, FrameWORK for Success empowers recent high school graduates with vital vocational and life skills, including professional communication, adaptability, financial literacy, and networking.

This year’s graduation marks the 18th anniversary of the program, which holds an impressive 90% job placement rate. Of the eight graduates completing the program this year, six have already secured employment with business partners in the community including Wilmington Tug, Carvel State Building, Aramark, and the State of Delaware.

“We are so proud of this class of graduates and look forward to seeing them flourish as they translate their learning into action in the workplace,” said FrameWORK for Success Program Manager Rich Katz. “Completing this program not only equips our graduates with needed tools and skills, it also instills confidence and a sense of pride in all they’ve accomplished.”

Through its collaborative partnerships with local school districts — New Castle County Vocational-Technical School District, Red Clay Consolidated School District, Brandywine School District, Colonial School District, and Appoquinimink School District — the FrameWORK for Success program focuses heavily on personalized job exploration. With the assistance of OCI employment consultants and job coaches, participants work as interns with community businesses to sharpen vocational skill sets and help them determine which jobs and industries most align with their interests.

“The FrameWORK for Success program fills a critical need for youth with disabilities in Delaware, acting as a bridge from the classroom to the workforce,” said OCI Executive Director Michele Mirabella. “We are grateful to our staff and business partners for helping us execute this mission. And most of all, we are incredibly excited for this new class of graduates.”
